Nobody cares about Robby

I used to listen to the Goo Goo Dolls back when I was in college.

Not anymore. I just got sick of it all. Too many radio-friendly love songs. Too little edge.

If all you've ever heard of the Goo Goo Dolls are the songs the radio stations pick up, you probably don't even know they have two singers. All you ever hear on the radio is John Rzeznik. And there's a good reason for that. John has a nice voice. It's breathy. It makes the ladies go crazy.

But the bassist, Robby Takac, has a whole slew of songs that he sings on. Flip through one of their CDs sometime. And wait for it.

What the hell was that?

His voice isn't exactly nice. More like snotty punk. And sometimes, it's downright unpleasant. I don't think I've ever listened to one of his songs all the way through. I just can't stomach it. And I'm not alone.

The funny thing is, the guy used to be the LEAD SINGER. Back when the band first started, he was the guy behind the mic.

That's got to sting a little.
