I've got a lot of demos lined up for my next album. I can't say exactly what direction it's going in yet, but so far the sound seems to be a slower, more textured, dreamier kind of rock. Electronic, too - but so far mostly rock.
Some of these demos have been floating around on my hard drive since 2008, when I started recording The Solomon Project. There are at least two or three songs from that set that are really decent, and that I've been meaning to finish for a long time. There's a wobbly, off-kilter guitar-driven track with some serious dissonant elements; it currently has a working name of "Take 30," and I'm not even sure what it's about lyrically (because is has no lyrics yet). There's a thick, dense rock song that I'm calling "Sick Like Me" for now. Then, I've got a really punchy classic rock -type demo currently going by "Serial." Those three are strong, and I want to put them on the new album.
As for new(er) stuff, it's really all over the place. I've got a Foreigner-esque synth and rock track that I threw together for kicks, but it's really not bad. There are a couple of all-electronic songs in the works, too. One is nearly finished, and will most likely end up on the album (It's currently called "Indecent", and has a seriously funky electro-bassline). The other, maybe not. Maybe as a segue or something. I'm not sure how strong it is yet. Then, I've got a super-heavy guitar riff that seems to be shaping up into a sweet track. No titles for these yet (not that the working titles matter). Oh, and I almost forgot: a throbbing bare-bones synth track with a full lyric sheet (called "Halo Black").
I'm really busy with freelance design and my day job, but I'd still like to devote as much time to this new album as I can.
